Dear Representative ______.
Re: The impact of the governor’s mandates on my family
[intro] I am writing this letter to express to you the severe impact of Governor Inslee’s mandates and am asking you to do what you can to provide my family and my community immediate relief. This situation has been going on for over 18 months and while Covid is a serious concern, it is no longer an emergency justifying unilateral powers of the governor. It is time that we the people had a voice again. The mandates are creating an emergency for my family.
[How have the mandates impacted you or your family?] The stress the mandates have created is immense! With these mandates controlling our lives I feel uneasy 100% of the time. It is hard to do my job the best I can. I am a teacher and worrying if my mask will fall below my nose on accident, or if I will be forced to get a shot is frightening. Feeling safe is important in our livelihoods.
[How have mandates affected your community?] Cost of living has increased significantly with the many mandates. Money is spent on masks and products at the stores and gas stations have increased. I am worried that I will be able to survive as prices everywhere are rising. I see families at my school worried if they will have enough food to eat or if products will be on the shelves available to buy. Where I teach, with kids and teachers mandated to mask up, I see filthy masks everywhere on the ground, in students’ mouths, on knees and in every which way on a child’s face. Kids are coming to school with limited language, articulation and social skills. Things are not well.
[What would you like the legislature to do?] I need help!! Our families need help!! Please call a special session immediately. There is currently an imbalance of power. This is unconstitutional. We the people have been silenced for too long.
Article 1, Section 1 of our Washington constitution says: All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights. I hereby revoke my consent for Governor Inslee’s “emergency powers.”
Thank you for your prompt consideration and attention to this matter.
Sincerely __________ .
